LIFE DOCUMENTED – JULY 10-27, 2017

Today’s Prayer to Passage will continue within “The Hero’s Journey” by Joseph Campbell. This month’s spiritual devotion within these texts will be taking place between July 1 – July 27, 2017.

Today I pray, “Dear God, Today, following my 9-5 job, I drove approximately 20 miles across town — yes, 20 miles is across town in a metropolitan cityscape — to a Barnes and Noble Bookstore to meet with two young women with whom I am in a new personal and professional growth, training, and development seminar titled: VELOCITY. I didn’t speed to get there. I took my cautious-driver time. We met, we sat in the cafe of the bookstore, and we talked about what projects we are each going to be creating throughout the duration of this seminar, which is one night a week for three hours for the next 10 weeks. My project will be to garner myself a filmmaker. Not as a date, although that would be lovely. I would like to find a documentary filmmaker who would be excited at the prospect of filming my life between my 40th birthday and my 41st birthday, the final full year of ‘The Biggest Audience’ calling. I mean, it’s only natural. I’m already on camera in a way I had never hoped or dreamed. Why not manifest that in physical reality. I will keep You updated on the progress of this ‘project’ of sorts. I pray for Your guidance to find the exact perfect filmmaker; the one who desires to take on this endeavor. All my love. Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:

“We are on the hero’s journey when we submit to the deep processes of life and allow them to affect us and bore their necessities into us. We are the hero when we take on the challenges and go through our initiations and transformations, enduring loss and gain, feeling happy and sad, making progress and falling back. The hero is engaged in life. The hero is not the on who displays force and muscle without deep insight or the courage to be. The hero may not look heroic from the outside but may go through powerful developments in a quiet way. The difference is that the real hero engages life and reflects on it. She becomes more and more what he or she is destined to be.”
