Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Being Peace” by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Today I pray, “Dear God, In today’s modern world, how may we be peace? Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“Understanding means throwing away your knowledge.”
—THICH NHAT HANH
Understanding, as a word, may hold a placement of “standing under”. With no hierarchy, with no words, with no knowledge, today’s passage bypasses the word understanding by its very purpose. To throw away knowledge of understanding is to throw away preconceived understanding of a sense of standing under. And here, equilibrium is born. Oneness stands with oneness. Being exists with being. We become emptiness of emptiness. We become meaningless of meaningless. We are the one.
