AS RIVERS FLOW

Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “At Swim—Two—Birds” by Flann O’Brien.

Today I pray, “Dear God, Thank You for the flow that arrives when we awaken to the desire to move downstream, not upstream. Thank You for allowing us to allow this life, as rivers flow. Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:

“Put a thief among honest men and they will eventually relieve him of his watch.”
—FLANN O’BRIEN

We lie in wait as thieves give us cause to protest. We lie in wait as thieves protest. And if, in the undercurrent of justice, we become the thieves, we then discover we are of the latter, not the former.
