Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck.
Today I pray, “Dear God, How do we connect to the cosmos? Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“Man, unlike any other thing organic or inorganic in the universe, grows beyond his work, walks up the stairs of his concepts, and emerges ahead of his accomplishments.”
It is easy. We step outside and we look up. It is vast, isn’t it? Imagine the vastness as infinite. And then imagine the possibility of not knowing what we do not know. And then draw all of that into yourself. Close your eyes. And breathe. Feel your breathing. Feel your beating heart. And care enough to know, in this infinite vastness, how truly lucky you are to be here, right here, right now.
