I AM A COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Think Great: Be Great!” by Lailah Gifty Akita.

Today I pray, “Dear God, This month marks the fourth consecutive month in my contribution to my local community and to my world as a volunteer to benefit humanity and planet earth. I am a coach. I coach five participants in a personal and professional growth, training, and development class. We meet for three hours one night per week. And I coach my participants on individual and conference phone calls, weekly. The experience has afforded me the opportunity to occur for myself as a leader in my community.

And I now know the power of contribution and of being contributed to. Community really is where it is at, God. You know this. You only want humanity to recognize this, and to grow in this. Thank You for this blessed gift offering that I have been given to coach five adults in a volunteer setting within my local community. We are changing the world for the better, one transformed community at a time. Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:

“Don’t despise your contributions to Humanity. Every little kind deed counts.”
—LAILAH GIFTY AKITA

Each of my participants are miraculous human beings. They are brilliant, fully self-expressed individuals who contribute to the world at a level of value that makes a difference that really matters to people, leaving people around them moved, touched, and inspired by what they really care about. And it has been my honor, coaching these participants. Their community projects throughout these past four months have made a profound and lasting difference in the world. And I am excited and truly blessed to have been a part of it.
