Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Wheels of Life” by Anodea Judith.
Today I pray, “Dear God, I am seeking a foundation on the earthly plane. A foundation with which to grow. My action is toward foundation. And my foundation is toward rest and peace. Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“Issues of power, control, energy fuels, and political strength have become key issues in our current events. We have come a long way from iron spearheads to nuclear warheads, yet the disease of power used for control and domination has remained.”
—ANODEA JUDITH
This is why I seek rest and peace. I’m tired of everything I was born into. I don’t want it. And neither do upcoming generations. What was filling up stadiums with people under 30 years of age in support for a Vermont politician who spoke outside the box? This. We don’t want the disease of power anymore. We don’t want it.
We had eight years of glory in this reminder of rest and peace. It placed itself in a prominent encouragement that made a difference that really mattered to people. There has been so much hope that the momentum could continue, accomplishing something for our future generations. Woodstock’s future generation showed up to rallies for an updated, modern-day revolution this past year. In 1969, their future generation, our new young generation, would not be born for another two decades. So what will our present-day future generation — born after 2040, able to vote in 2060 — be rallying around?
