Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Catch-22” by Joseph Heller.
Today I pray, “Dear God, Today, I honor men who are fathers. Their guidance, love, and openness is much needed on the planet. Thank You for fathers and what they provide for the entire world. Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”
—JOSEPH HELLER
Today, I honor my own father, my dad. I love you, Dad! I have noticed, in so many ways I had not realized throughout my childhood, how genuine and noble my dad has truly been, simply by being a father. He is honest and curious and kind and playful and generous and loving and free. He is all of these and so many other admirable qualities. I am so proud to call my father my father. He is miraculous.
