A LIFESTYLE OF ENLIGHTENED SOULS

Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “The Closing of the American Mind” by Allan Bloom.

Today I pray, “Dear God, There was a time when I wondered why I was born in the United States of America. Now I know. I certainly do not feel American, nor have I ever felt American — in this lifetime. Yet I appreciate having been born an American. If I title myself as anything, I would title myself American in a tone similar to some miracle beings I know being titled Millennial. It gets old. And, quite frankly, annoying. I am so much more than this title. Though I am so glad to have the blessings that come about in the midst of this title. Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:

“The end result is that there can be no more truth or goodness and no need or even ability to make tough choices. Where the purpose of higher education once was to enable the student to find truth, the modern university teaches that there is no truth, only ‘lifestyle.”
—ALLAN BLOOM

Yes! I love watching “Millennials” in “America”. All they have is height and width. That’s a flatland, and I feel God says yes to all the infinite dimensions of being God’s essence of Love we may call lifestyle. This infinite lifestyle of Love is a truth of faith. And there is an empirical evidence of faith in that people have faith. This faithful, loving, God-filled, infinite lifestyle is one we choose. It is a choice of ease, of lightness.

I first viewed this clip (source cited on site) two weeks ago. I thought of it as I was typing the word “flatland”.
