Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston.
Today I pray, “Dear God, What is something to pay attention to when we look for You in our lives? Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“And listenin’ tuh dat kind uh talk is jus’ lak openin’ yo’ mouth and lettin’ de moon shine down yo’ throat.”
—ZORA NEALE HURSTON
Not only may we look for God. We may listen. God speaks to us through humanity. Listen to people throughout your day and pray for discernment. Discernment allows the living message to arrive. Bright as the moon. And as we listen to one another, may we speak with what we have discovered and learned, once again praying for discernment to deliver perfect language and tone.
