Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book ‘The Prophet’ by Kahlil Gibran.
Today I pray, “Dear God, My Spiritual Gifts test displayed me as a prophet. And my Spiritual advisors have guided me in the area of practicing prophesy. And You have wondrously fulfilled my calling. What more am I being called to do within all of this? Amen”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving.”
This reminds me of a poem I wrote in the year 2000 while living on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I was on the balcony of my home, gazing at the mature oak tree before me.
I have heard the wind blow softly in essence
All my worries lie beneath the grand oak tree
And youthful rays of light peek through the rattle of the leaves
To touch my brow and play with the curves of a woman
Of time and movement, there is only one and it is day
And one voice, that of the canary
I move in subtle harmony with the wind
And utter sweet thoughts, gently dreaming
This I leave to you so that all may know
The worthiness of solitude and quiet contemplation
