Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change’ by Stephen R. Covey.
Today I pray, “Dear God, There are so many people around me who are following their callings, even if they do not realize it entirely. What is your encouraging reminder of what we can confidently conclude in terms of our own paths of purpose in life?”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“Perhaps a sense of possessing needs to come before a sense of genuine sharing.”
—STEPHEN R. COVEY
When we own purpose as ours, life opens up. Life becomes simpler and better defined, even if momentarily while ownership of purpose plays out. There are endless numbers of purposes to greet us each day. Create an empowering context. “I want to see this day again — played to view as something noteworthy and acknowledged.” I think of this when I see someone offer an act of kindness to another. If only that was recognized with an award or honor of some sort. And this is a prayer that I can contribute in such moments. That honor and acknowledgement are on the way. Now that’s genuine sharing!
