Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book ‘Jesus Calling’ by Sarah Young.
My prayer today is, “Dear God, Thank You for allowing me to make a difference that really matters to people. Intercessory prayer is a big responsibility. Praying on the behalf of others is a quiet calling, a peaceful purpose. It is understated. I don’t talk about what I pray about, especially if I have premonitions. Intercessory prayer is simply my doing what I can do to help.
In fact, there are only two people on the planet with whom I’ve spoken about The Biggest Audience calling from 2010. For five years, I was living my life — having forgotten that I had even agreed to the calling. Writing about it this year reminded me of what I had agreed to. Living it felt much more natural. Once I wrote about it, it felt disrupted. But I allowed it to be what it was for five years before revealing it. Thank You for trusting me.”
Following my prayer, I opened the book to read this passage response:
“TRUST ME ENOUGH to let things happen without striving to predict or control them. Relax, and refresh yourself in the Light of My everlasting Love. My Love-Light never dims, yet you are often unaware of My radiant Presence. When you project yourself into the future, rehearsing what you will do or say, you are seeking to be self-sufficient: to be adequate without My help. This is a subtle sin—so common that it usually slips by unnoticed.
The alternative is to live fully in the present, depending on Me each moment. Rather than fearing your inadequacy, rejoice in My abundant supply. Train your mind to seek My help continually, even when you feel competent to handle something by yourself. Don’t divide your life into things you can do by yourself and things that require My help. Instead, learn to rely on Me in every situation. This discipline will enable you to enjoy life more and to face each day confidently.”
—SARAH YOUNGTrust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
—PSALM 37:3-6
This is directly in response to yesterday. It has been a very long time since I have felt so uncomfortable with the experience of sharing my life. I felt upset, doubtful, and exhausted. I arrived to work wanting to go home and pray, write, and sleep. It was very windy and chilly outside. I wanted to be curled up in a blanket.
There was a moment when I realized I was trying to get through the day on my own. I had completely forgotten to ask for help. This is exactly the comforting passage that I needed. And it fits my prayer, which continues to amaze me. My faith is restored daily. I know the justice of my cause is taken care of. I am not doing this alone; it is a global community — and a Godly one.
