Today’s Prayer to Passage will be drawn from an edition of USAA Magazine titled ’30 Things You Should Know About Money By Age 30′ by Blake Miller.

And I pray, “Dear God, What am I to know about my own financial well being?”

Following my prayer, I opened the magazine to the following passage:

Your best investment is in yourself.
Your earning power is your financial security to a great extent. You want to protect it and invest in it when necessary,’ says Chatzky. Take the opportunity to learn new skills or enroll in continuing education classes. ‘You, as a working person, have very long decades ahead of you, so it’s up to you to make sure you will continually be able to do that.”

I have done some continuing education within recent years. I completed eight courses in two and a half years. The first course was in September 2011. My most recent course concluded in April 2014. It has already been a year and a half. I learned so much about myself and about communication and peace of mind.

Those courses, honestly, significantly helped shape me into the self-expressing woman I am today. The next one that I plan to take centers on communication lending power to create in life. I plan to enroll within the next few months. I am no longer in my twenties, yet investing in ourselves is a good idea at any age. We, in turn, are out in the world, making contributions. This is less about money and more about being contributed to so we can contribute to others. Rather than being money motivated, I can be contribution motivated.
