Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us” by Daniel H. Pink.
Today I pray, “Dear God, This evening I had the marvelous opportunity to spend time with my mother, my sister, and my 16-month-old nephew. The four of us spent one evening per week together for approximately three months last year, as my sister returned to work and had asked for family to be caretakers of her infant son before placing him in Montessori school at age six-months. The four of us had a little reunion tonight. It was such a joy and a thrill to be around that group again — as my mother and sister have not seemed to have changed noticeably, and my nephew is now walking and saying his first words! My word, what a difference a year makes! And how wonderful it feels to have family to return to. Thank You for this. Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“So get rid of the unnecessary obligations, time-wasting distractions, and useless burdens that stand in your way.”
—DANIEL H. PINK
Yes, connections with my sister, my mother, and my sister’s oldest child is such a soul blessing here. Any distraction that would keep me from arising to an opportunity to have these connections are indeed unnecessary. These people, as a physical part of my life, is one of my primary roles and missions on planet earth. I am aware of this. I am grateful for this knowing. I thank God for these loved ones, and I continue to choose to be with these blessings in the physical form at every opportunity that arrives.
