Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life” by Karen Armstrong.
Today I pray, “Dear God, Of twelve-step programs, compassion ranks high in my book. What is a simple compassion mantra to memorize?”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“We can either emphasize those aspects of our traditions, religious or secular, that speak of hatred, exclusion, and suspicion or work with those that stress the interdependence and equality of all human beings. The choice is yours.”
—KAREN ARMSTRONG
Ahhh. This is a good one. It is easy to memorize, and magical to manifest. I love the way it flows from the former option of the world I do not prefer to live in to the permeating peacefulness residing in the glistening waters of oneness and unity. The choice is ours. Where does this leads us? To a balancing toward what we deserve. Peace, harmony, and love.
