Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Altruism:  The Power of Compassion to Change Yourself and the World” by Matthieu Ricard.

Today I pray, “Dear God, When I was a young girl, around age four, I felt a natural connection toward compassion for the world.  As I grow older, now 39, I find that global compassion begins within one’s own loving nature to one’s self.  As I am compassionate to myself, I am better equipped with a resiliency of empathy and good cheer to be compassionate to the entire earth.  Thank You for this.  Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:

“It is a love that is always available.  And that stems from the unchanging simplicity, serenity, and strength of a good heart.”

I melted when I read this passage.  I felt as though God was speaking directly to me to say, “Good job, kid.  Keep up the good work!”  It refreshes my soul to read a passage such as this.  And I am reminded that, indeed, this love for our planet and all that exists here is always available.
