Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Go Tell It on the Mountain” by James Baldwin.
Today I pray, “Dear God, I have been sacrificing my own wellbeing for all of my loved ones in my current immediate circle. I am losing sleep and I am giving up precious time to myself to restore my body to healing and an essence of spiritual fulfillment. As much as I do love my current circle of immediate loved ones, I must ask You, when in the world will this era of self-sacrifice end? Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to reveal this passage:
“He stood for a moment on the melting snow, distracted, and then began to run down the hill, feeling himself fly as the descent became more rapid, and thinking: “I can climb back up. If it’s wrong, I can always climb back up.”
—JAMES BALDWIN
I will end this time by choice. And this resonates as a timeframe of trust. I have great faith that the lessons I am learning in and through this experience are lessons of love and self-love. I can always climb back up to self-love. And when I return, when I reach these blessed heights, I will remain. Victorious. Glorious. Free.
