Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “The Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care” by Dr. Benjamin Spock.

Today I pray, “Dear God, What are words You would like to impart to mothers and fathers and other caretakers of all of the amazing beings being born on planet earth at this time? Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:

“The children who are appreciated for what they are, even if they are homely, or clumsy, or slow, will grow up with confidences in themselves — happy. They will have a spirit that will make the best of all the capacities that they have, and of all the opportunities that come their way. They will make light of any handicaps.”

In my making light, I view “handicaps” as handy capstones or convenient mastery opportunities. Convenient mastery opportunities join us as One in this journey of mastery together. Children enter as opportunities for our own mastery. We appreciate them, have confidence in them, and join them in their capacities and the opportunities that come their way. They are here to teach us something about ourselves that we have forgotten. They are here to enlighten us in ways we have been waiting to discover. They are God moving with us, as we are God moving with us. Our spirits are their spirits, One.
