REMEMBERING ENLIGHTENMENT

Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Candide” by Voltaire.

Today I pray, “Dear God, as enlightenment is an ongoing seeking journey, as one may attain enlightenment and then have it subside to be sought after again, as we continually seek so that we may find, what are we to know amid this? Amen.”

Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:

“Mankind have a little corrupted nature, for they were not born wolves, and they have become wolves; God has given them neither cannon of four-and-twenty pounders, nor bayonets; and yet they have made cannon and bayonets to destroy one another.”
—VOLTAIRE

Ahh, so not everyone has attained enlightenment. Something to remember. We were born whole, we live our lives whole, and we pass on from the earthly plane whole. Why, then, must there be a draw to destroy what is already complete and perfect? Ease, liberation, and flow draw us in a current stream of our wellbeing. There is no resistance and no attack. In the absence of what is not required for wholeness, for Oneness, we remain whole and One. Something to remember.
