Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “A Brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking.
Today I pray, “Dear God, Thank You for what is next. Amen.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“…if we do discover a complete theory, it should in time be understandable in broad principle by everyone, not just a few scientists. Then we shall all, philosophers, scientists, and just ordinary people, be able to take part in the discussion of the question of why it is that we and the universe exist. If we find the answer to that, it would be the ultimate triumph of human reason – for then we would know the mind of God.”
—STEPHEN HAWKING
This is so full of wonder. I am appreciating that this is the passage that arrived. And I love it when the name of God shows up in the passages. I have a friend to whom I posed this question today: “Do you ever want to step back? For, say, a year? And look at your life? And stay in your life at the same time so you may continue making contributions and continue exploring the splendor of the universe. Yet be fully stepped back, 100 feet back, looking at and through all of the things you did and said and so on?
So that you may step back in upon realization of your discoveries and confidently state, ‘Woah. I have changed…the course…of HISTORY. My work. What I did. What I said. My being here. Changed…the course…of history.'”
This friend is following his callings so masterfully and so aligned with Spirit that I can honestly see life unfolding and expanding through the work that he does. I say to him, “Do you even REALIZE that you are allowing all of God’s religion and politics and science to blend harmoniously in the living arrival of your work? Do you see that? Do you know what a gift you are to the planet, to the universe?” May we, each and every one of us, blend harmoniously in our own stepping back… and appreciating ourselves… and stepping back in.
