Today’s Prayer to Passage will be from the book “Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus” by John Gray.
Today I pray, “Dear God, May Day reminds me of dropping off cups of candy at cute boys’ houses, hoping they would run to kiss me. OK. I was in Kindergarten. And it was one specific boy. May Day is a sweetly hopeful day. The grownup version of this is a large coffee picked up by my cherished friend at a café and brought to me, at home in my pajamas. And the kissing, with the perfect grownup boy who finally arrived, is much more fun.”
Following my prayer, I held the closed book in my hands and opened it to this passage:
“Fortunately perfection is not a requirement for creating great relationships.”
—JOHN GRAY
I always seem to have this feeling on May Day. I become content with the sweet delivery of whatever shows up. I realize the kind person is here, in the room with me, engaging in a conversation. And this is the good life. We’ve caught one another for a brief moment in time. And this is as playful as love gets. Enjoying the having caught one another for a sweet, brief moment in time.
