COMFORTER ABOVE

Today’s Prayer to Passage comes from the children’s book ‘The Quilt Story’ by Tony Johnston and Tomie dePaola.

Today I pray, “Dear God, Your mosaic heirloom is a comfort. Every small peace creates a peace that transcends all human understanding and covers us in love. Thank You for Your protection. Amen.”

Following my prayer, I opened the book to find this passage:

“One day when the quilt
was very old and very loved,
Abigail folded it carefully
and put it in the attic.
Everyone forgot it was there.”
—TONY JOHNSTON & TOMIE DEPAOLA

Yes, our faith is not our great-grandmother’s faith. So let’s take it down, unfold it, and repurpose it to fit a California King. Modernizing God shows us that God is God. Still a Heavenly comfort. Waiting to wrap us in love and remind us that someone from our past cared enough to gift it to us through generations. Even in a fast-paced, busy, modern life — God’s got us covered.
